Several Gor Mahia Fans Injured in Accident Along Nairobi-Nakuru Highway

Several people were injured on Saturday afternoon after a bus ferrying Gor Mahia Football Club fans got involved in a road accident at Kimende along Nairobi-Naivasha highway.
Reports indicate that the crash occurred after the bus, which was apparently speeding, lost control, veered off the highway and overturned beside the road.
According to witnesses, the accident occurred while the group of friends were travelling back to Nairobi from a burial ceremony held in upcountry.
Following the incident, local residents quickly came to the scene and began helping those trapped under the wreckage out before rushing them to Kijabe Mission Hospital.
Unconfirmed report claim that at leastsix individuals sustained serious injuriesand are in critical condition, while several others sustained minor injuries.
Widely circulated videos and images of the crash showed passengers struggling to get out of the bus through the windows, even as rescue efforts intensified.
Footage obtained bykenyans.co.kefurther showed some of the victims lying on the ground while others rushed to retrieve their luggage from the bus. At the time of reporting, police officers had yet to arrive at the scene.
The accident adds to the number of road crashes witnessed across the country in recent weeks. This comes a day after a pupil died and 13 others were injured in a crash at Mihango in Chokaa Estate, Nairobi County.
The crash, which took place on Friday, September 12, occurred after thebus ferrying 13 pupils lost control and veered offthe road and hit a pupil who was using the road.
Witnesses said the deceased, who was a pupil from a different school, was knocked down while walking beside the road. Despite the accident, the school did not provide an immediate response.
In a separate accident on the same day, an unknown number of people were injured after a 14-seater matatu overturnedalong the Kenol-Kabati highway in Murang’a County.
The accident prompted a quick response from the locals, who intervened and saved all the passengers. Most of the victims were left nursing minor injuries.
