Raila Sends Kasmuel to European Parliament

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Youth League leader, Kasmuel McOure, has confirmed that he will represent the ODM party at the European Parliament and other institutions in Brussels, Belgium.
In a statement on his official X account on Sunday, September 14, McOure attributed the opportunity to the European Union in Kenya and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
During his trip, Kasmuel said that he will have the chance to engage with world leaders, from whom he will gain valuableinsights that will enable him to strengthen the party, when he returns.
“I have just arrived in Brussels to represent the ODM party at the European Parliament and other key institutions. This opportunity comes courtesy of the European Union in Kenya and H.E. Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, who has always reminded us that excellence must be pursued relentlessly and without excuse,” Kasmuel stated.
“I look forward to engaging with world leaders, learning best practices, and bringing these insights back home to strengthen our mighty party,” he added.
This comes three months after Kasmuel got the opportunity to be among the 41 Kenyan youths who went to the United States for the 2025 Mandela Washington Fellowship (MWF).
The MWF is a U.S. government-sponsored programme that brings young African leaders to the United States for academic and leadership training.
According to the United States Embassy in Nairobi, in a statement on Monday, June 16, the six-week programme empowers young Africans between the ages of 25 and 35 through academic coursework, leadership training, and networking opportunities.
The fellowship, which happened between June 18 and July 29, 2025, involved 650 youths across the continent, who were drawn from different fields, including media, science, and business, and different parts of the country.
This year’s fellowship was hosted by 26 leading U.S. educational institutionsacross 21 states.
During the fellowship period, the selected individuals were divided into three groups, including business leadership, civic leadership, and public management, where they will collaborate to gain knowledge and share their own leadership expertise.
“From journalists and novelists to scientists and entrepreneurs, the newest Mandela Washington Fellows are established professionals who showcase Kenya’s exceptional depth and range of talent,” the embassy stated.
“They hail from all regions of Kenya, including Turkana, Kisii, Laikipia, Nairobi, Isiolo, Mombasa, Kiambu, etc. All share a passion for building stronger communities,” it added.
