National School Shut After Students Riot Over Teacher’s Misconduct

Kaplong Girls High School in Bomet County has been closed indefinitely following a student protest over alleged sexual harassment by a male teacher.
The incident, which sparked tension within the school, led to an abrupt disruption of learning activities.
According to Principal Clara Mitei, the decision to close the school was made to restore calm and allow authorities to investigate the matter.
The students reportedly staged a protest demanding action, citing repeated cases of inappropriate behavior.
During the unrest, students vandalised several school installations, including breaking window panes in dormitories and classrooms. The school bus was also damaged after being pelted with stones.
The incident has triggered widespread concern, with parents, alumni, and the public calling for accountability and immediate action on the accused.
