MPs Contribute Over 100K to Buy Anointed Handkerchiefs to Supply State House, Parliament

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, together with lawmakers allied to the newly formed Kenya Moja political caucus, has offered thousands of shillings to Pastor Peter Manyuru’s church, the Jesus Teaching Ministry (JTM), to buy anointed handkerchiefs to supply to all three arms of government.
In a sarcastic twist of events, while attending a Sunday service at the church, the legislators maintained that the handkerchiefs would be supplied to the three arms of government to deal with the scourge of graft that is allegedly rife within the institutions.
According to the church, the anointed handkerchief has extra powers that, when waved, can expose anyone with dark practices. It is said to cause culprits to tremble, confess, and disclose their corrupt dealings.
Amisi said the contributions would cater for a total of 349 elected and nominated Members of Parliament, plus the Speaker, who have recently been accused of turning the legislative house into a corruption citadel.
Additionally, Amisi stated that 10,000 pieces would be supplied to the State House, 67 to the Senate, and 300 to the Judiciary.
“I have given Ksh100,000 to you, apostle, so that you can buy anointed handkerchiefs with that money and make sure that you supply the Judiciary, State House, and Parliament so that anybody involved in the vice can succumb to the powers of this piece of cloth,” Amisi stated.
Gathoni Wamuchomba, who was recently suspended from the August House over discipline issues, also added a contribution to the kitty, terming the decision as necessary.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and other leaders present at the service also endorsed the move.
During the Sunday service at the church, congregants could be seen confessing their dark acts, including witchcraft, when the white-labelled piece of cloth was waved.
Amisi defended the decision, arguing that the scourge of corruption had reacheda tipping point and Kenyans had no choice but to hand it over to God.
“We are returning it to God. We do not know who is who because everyone is blaming each other over the scourge,” Amisi said.
“We have a towel for corruption in this country. We are distributing these to expose who the engineer, the architect, the contractor, and the chief surveyor of the same are. It is the same people singing to us about corruption while being part of it.”
Last week, while speaking during a joint parliamentary group meeting between the Kenya Kwanza Alliance and the Orange Democratic Movement party, a visibly angry President William Ruto read the riot act to lawmakers following reports that a majority of them, particularly at the committee level, had been demanding bribes to influence outcomes.
Ruto announced that the government will apprehend and prosecute all leaders, particularly Members of Parliament and Senators, who have been soliciting and receiving bribes to perform their legislative duties.
