Malala Faces Arrest After Man Reports Him to DCI

Cleophas Malala, the Deputy Leader of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), risks arrest after a man filed a formal report against him at the offices of the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) over recent remarks about the death of the first family’s children.
The man, identified as Stanley Mwangi Wairimu, arrived at the DCI offices headquarters in Kiambu on Tuesday, August 19, and vowed to camp there for all the necessary days until the officers arrest Malala.
A week ago, Cleophas Malala sparked a heated debate when he made remarks suggesting that he would cause President Ruto the same pain felt byparents who have lost children in recent extrajudicial killings.
‘’The US has begun investigating the recent extrajudicial killings; that’s why President William Ruto is pushing for compensation. He now wants to compensate the families of those who died.
“The question we are asking William Ruto is, how much is enough to compensate for a dead child? Is it 2, 5, or 10 million? As Kenyans, we want to fundraise that amount, Ksh10 million, then give it to you, your child dies, and you see whether it will be enough compensation for a dead child,’’ Malala said.
The statement has landed the former senator in trouble, with Mwangi now demanding his arrest by the DCI on the grounds that the remarks were disrespectful to the office of the president.
‘’I have travelled from Nyandarua to the DCI Headquarters in Kiambu because I am very saddened by what Malala says, even if he hates the President, then let him at least respect the President’s office,’’ Mwangi said.
Mwangi revealed that he had presented evidence both in document and video form against Malala and was waiting eagerly for his arrest.
The visibly agitated man called on the Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen, and the Police Inspector General, Douglas Kanja, to hold leaders accountable for their controversial remarks.
‘’If no action is taken over the letter, documents, and evidence I have presented to the DCI, then I will camp here for the whole week, I will demonstrate here until Malala is arrested,’’ Mwangi continued.
While acknowledging that all Kenyanshave a right to freedom of speech, Mwangi has called upon political leaders to sieve their opinions regardless of the political front they belong to.
‘’To the politicians, Kenya belongs to all of us, let’s give the leaders a chance to work for us, and when its time for politics, you are free to politic,’’ Mwangi continued.
