Kenya Met Predicts Cold Weather to Subside in Nairobi, Other Regions Over the Next Five Days

The Kenya Meteorological Department has revealed that several parts of the country will experience sunny and dry conditions from September 12 to 16, while Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and parts of the Rift Valley will receive rainfall.
The department noted that temperatures ranging between 6°C and 30°C are expected in the highlands east of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, Nyeri, Kiambu and Murang’a.
It alsopredicted cloudy mornings in these regions, which will break into sunny intervals with light afternoon showers in some areas.
“Most parts of the country are likely to be sunny and dry. However, rainfall is expected in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley,” the notice reads.
According to the department, areas in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, such as Kisumu, Kakamega, Bungoma, Nakuru, and Kericho, morning rains are expected in a few areas, followed by afternoon showers and thunderstorms in several places throughout the period.
The maximum temperatures in this areas expected to reach around 30°C with minimums dropping to about 9°C.
North-western counties such as Turkana and Samburu will generally be sunny, though occasional showers are expected in a few places. Temperatures will reach highs of 36°C and drop to about 7°C at night in these areas.
In North-eastern Kenya, including Marsabit, Wajir, Mandera, Garissa, and Isiolo, conditions will remain hot and dry, with highs of up to 38°C and lows of about 14°C.
The South-eastern lowlands, such as Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, and Kajiado, will also remain mostly sunny, with temperatures ranging between 9°C and 32°C.
At the Coast, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale, sunny days and partly cloudy nights will dominate. Daytime highs will reach 32°C, with lows of about 21°C.
The Department has also warned of strong southerly to south-easterly winds exceeding 25 knots in coastal regions, the south-eastern lowlands, and parts of northern Kenya.
