Karura Forest Issues Mandatory Notice to All Visitors

Karura Forest has introduced a new payment system for all visitors covering gate entry, parking, and other services. This new system also applies to the Sigiria block of the forest.
In a notice, the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) stated that all payments will now be made through the official e-Citizen platform, using Paybill number 222222.
According to KFS, thenew system will be effective starting Friday, August 29, 2025.
In a notice, the KFS said the change follows a government directive that all public services must be onboarded to the e-Citizen platform and that non-designated payment platforms should be closed.
“Kenya Forest Service wishes to inform all visitors that, in line with the Government of Kenya’s directive on the onboarding of all government services and closure of non-designated payment platforms (National Treasury Circular CAB/ADM.2A/6 Vol.1/(122)).
“All payments for gate entry, parking, and related services in Karura Forest, including the Sigiria block, will be made exclusively through the official e-Citizen platform (Paybill 222222) effective Friday, 29th August 2025,” KFS stated.
KFS explained that the move is part of a wider plan to improve transparency, security, and efficiency in service delivery.
In a statement, the service explained that thechanges were aimed at making payments easier and more convenient for visitors.
The agency assured the public that all other activities and services at Karura Forest will continue as usual, and its partnership with the Community Forest Association remains in place.
“All other activities and services in Karura Forest will continue as usual, and our collaboration with the Community Forest Association remains unchanged,” KFS added.
The KFS urged visitors to submit any feedback to Karura Forest to help improve their services.
