Govt Issues Update on Kenyans Who Will Get Ksh4,000 Starting This Week

The Ministry of Gender, Culture, and Children Services has confirmed the disbursement of  Ksh1.78 billion that will cater for the June and July 2025 Inua Jamii programme for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC).
In a statement on Monday, September 8, Principal Secretary, State Department for Children Services, Carren Ageng’o, confirmed that 445,940 beneficiaries of the cash transfer programme will receive Ksh4000 that will cover the two months.
Ageng’o noted thatthe payments have kick-started today, and are being made through contracted service providers across the country.
“This disbursement covers stipends for both the June and July 2025 payment cycles. Each beneficiary household will receive Ksh. 4,000, representing Ksh. 2,000 per month for the two (2) months. Payments have commenced today through the contracted Payment Service Provider,” Ageng’o stated.
” The CT-OVC programme aims to encourage fostering and retention of orphans and vulnerable children within their families and communities, while promoting their human capital development,” she added.
The PS attributed the two-month delay of the payment to the newly established State Department for Children Services, which was under Executive Order No.1 of 2025.
According to the PS, the programme plays a fundamental role inensuring that the children receive quality education, healthcare, and household food security.
“The CT-OVC Programme aims to encourage fostering and retention of orphans and vulnerable children within their families and communities, while promoting their human capital development,” the PS  stated.
“Specifically, the programme supports increased enrolment and transition in education, improved health and nutrition outcomes, enhanced household food security, and better child protection,” she added.
The announcement comes a month after the Social Services and Senior Citizen Affairs Principal Secretary, Joseph Motari, also confirmed that Ksh4.6 billion had been paid to Inua Jamii beneficiaries for June and July.
In a statement on Thursday, August 7, the PS confirmed that over one million beneficiaries enrolled on the programme would receive Ksh4,000 each instead of the usual Ksh2,000 after going unpaid in June.
“The June cycle payment had been delayed due to a data cleanup exercise. The State Department apologises to beneficiaries for any inconvenience caused by the delay,” the PS stated.
