Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has criticised President William Ruto for allegedly mocking his academic achievements during a meeting with teachers from across the country at State House in Nairobi on Saturday, September 13.
Addressing the residents of Nyeri County on Saturday afternoon, the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader also questioned the authenticity of the Head of State’s education achievements.
Gachagua went ahead to sensationally claim that while the head of State openly bragged about his academic achievements, there was no tangible evidence to show how he obtained his PhD.
“I have seen Ruto claiming that he is very educated and that I am not learned. He pretends to be well educated, but he lies, and he is also mismanaging the country,” Gachagua said.
The DCP leader went ahead to claim that PresidentRuto’s academic documents couldn’t be realdue to the latter’s alleged inability to properly run the country.
Gachagua responded after Ruto revealed that his administration was on the verge of failure because he had been working with ‘uneducated’ leaders until Prof Kithure Kindiki joined him as deputy president.
Speaking on Saturday morning during a forum with over 10,000 teachers at State House in Nairobi, the President, who branded himself as the most learned Head of State in Kenya’s history, opened up about his experience working with Gachagua.
Ruto noted that theformer DP would often complain about his level of education, which, according to the President, barred the former DP from efficiently fulfilling his role in the government.
The President revealed that he was concerned that Gachagua’s low academic qualifications would fail his administration.
“I had another deputy who used to lament about his low level of education, and I was very sceptical that he would fail my administration,” said Ruto.
The President contrasted Gachagua’s academic qualifications with his current Deputy President, Kithure Kindiki, whom he termed as overqualified for the role.
“If you want to succeed, you put around people who are more intelligent than you so that they can help you to shine,” Ruto added.
