Gachagua Arrives in Kenya From US

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has returned to the country following the premature end of his four-week political tour in the United States.
Gachagua landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Thursday afternoon after a 15-hour flight. Upon his arrival, he was received by a large delegation of political allies and supporters.
Among those present at the airport to receive Gachagua were DCP Deputy Leader Cleophas Malala, Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara, and other party members.
As he disembarked, hundreds of party supporters thronged the airport’s arrival terminal, shouting and chanting his name, with some waving banners and singing solidarity songs.
The atmosphere at JKIA was charged, forcing security officers to intervene to calm the crowd, which was eager to hear from their political leader.
Police officers erected barricades on some roads, disrupting traffic flow, particularly along the Mombasa Highway and the Expressway, which provide direct access to the airport.
WhileGachagua did not immediately address the press or the supporters upon his arrival, reports now indicate that the former DP could address the crowd at the Kamukunji grounds.
His arrival comes hours after Malala revealed that the party had already notified the police about their plans to receive Gachagua at JKIA upon his arrival from America.
According to him, the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja and other senior police officers within Nairobi were notified about Gachagua’s arrival and the anticipated procession within the city.
Malala stated that upon the former DP’s arrival, a peaceful procession would begin at the JKIA through the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) to Kamukunji grounds.
“We have formally notified the police, and we shall receive our King with honour and dignity, leading a peaceful procession from JKIA through the CBD to Kamukunji,” Malala said during an interview onCitizen TV.
“We do not need CS Murkomen’s permission to assemble. People have travelled from across the country to witness Gachagua’s arrival. We have mobilised people in Kisumu and Mombasa to receive Gachagua in case his plane is diverted to those destinations,” he added.
