Disappointment for Omanyala at World Championships in Tokyo

Kenya’s sprint star Ferdinand Omanyala has bowed out of the men’s 100m at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo after finishing 5th in a stacked semifinal on Sunday, September 14.
The much-anticipated race featured some of the world’s fastest sprinters, and while Omanyala showed glimpses of his trademark power, he ultimately couldn’t match the pace, missing out on a place in the final.
In a semifinal lineup which was always going to be tough for Africa’s fastest man, Omanyala finished fifth with a time of 10.09, with America’s Kenny Bednarek and Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson securing spots at the final with a 9.85s photo finish.
