Chaos as Hundreds Stranded on Nairobi-Mombasa Highway

Motorists traversing the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway were caught in a traffic snarl-up after an accident occurred between Mutitu Andei and Voi on Sunday night.
The accident occurred at the Kanga Bridge, as reported by the Long Distance Drivers and Conductors Association (LoDDCA).
In images seen byKenyans.co.ke, two wrecked trucks were pictured at the scene with their fronts completely damaged, alluding to a head-on collision.
However, the actualcause of the accident has yetto be made public.
The images also showed a long snarl-up on both sides of the highway, frequented by long-distance vehicles, with several groups issuing warnings about the situation.
Elsewhere, on the Embu-Meru Highway, several people were injured following an accident involving three vehicles at Gatunduri.
Reportedly, the injured were quickly rushed to Embu Level 5 Hospital for treatment.
Images obtained byKenyans.co.keshowed the aftermath of the accident, with a personal car completely wrecked at the front. A truck was also seen lying on the side of the road.
However, the exact number of casualties from that accident had yet to be publicly confirmed at the time of publication.
The two accidents occurred just hours after another crash atthe Kibarani area along the busy Mombasa-Nairobi Highwayleft 15 people injured.
The Kenya Red Cross, which responded to the scene, revealed that the accident involved a PSV matatu and a cargo container.
Some reports indicated that, of the 13 matatu passengers, five were in critical condition while the other eight sustained only minor injuries.
