Motorists Lament After NTSA Payment System Hitch

A section of motorists has expressed frustrations after the National Transport and Safety Authority’s (NTSA) payment system temporarily experinced a system hitch.
The payment system downtime was experienced for a better part of Wednesday, September 03, sparking outrage among motorists who took to social media to express their disappointment.
Despite several attempts to make payments, motorists claimed that they could not retrieve the correct invoices amid claims of double payment.
“There seems to be an issue with the payment system today. Why the glitch? questioned another online user.
However,NTSA quickly intervened and acknowledged the system hitches. According to the Authority, a team from the eCitizen platform had already been dispatched to deal with the issue.
While apologising over the incident, NTSA urged members of the public to exercise patience, adding that an alert would be issued once normalcy resumes.
“We apologise for this. The eCitizen team is working to resolve the issue. We will alert you as soon as the issue is fixed,” the Authority wrote on its X platform.
The latest development comes hardly two months after NTSA conducted a large-scale system maintenance, an activity that rendered most of its services unavailable.
In a statement on June 20, the Authority announced that the scheduled maintenance would take place for over 24 hours, from June 20 at 10 pm to June 21 at 6 pm.
According to NTSA, during the aforementioned period, all itsservices, which include license application and renewal, number plate application, inspection booking, and change of vehicle particulars, would be unavailable.
“The Authority plans to conduct scheduled system maintenance from Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10 pm to Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 4 pm,” read part of NTSA’s statement.
“During this period, all our services will be intermittently unavailable. We apologise for any inconvenience that might be caused as a result of the maintenance,” it added.
