Several Injured As School Bus Crashes in Machakos

Several people were injured after a school rolled at Mutwamwaki Ridge along Kivandini – Masinga Road, Machakos County.
The accident involved a school bus was ferrying 48 students and 3 teachers from St Augustine Mumbuni Secondary School from a trip to Masinga Dam.
According to reports, the brakes of thebus failed causing it to veer from the road and roll over.
Those who sustained injuries were reportedly rushed to Matuu Level 4 hospital for medications after locals rushed to the scene to help those trapped in the wreckage before they were joined by a rescue team.
Images and a video obtained byKenyans.co.keshow the wreckage at the bottom of the ditch with the front part and the windshield completely damaged.
This accident adds to the growing number of school bus-related road crashes witnessed across the country in the recent past.
On September 12,a pupil died and 13 others were injured in a crash in Mihango’s Chokaa Estate, Nairobi.
The crash, which took place on Friday, September 12, occurred after thebus ferrying 13 pupils lost control and veered offthe road and hit a pupil who was using the road.
Witnesses said the deceased, who was a pupil from a different school, was knocked down while walking beside the road.
Weeks earlier, several students were injured after a school bus they were traveling in crashed along the Kisumu-Busia highway in Sirwa Posta, Vihiga County.
Reports suggested the bus was transporting the students and teachers from Vihiga County to Meru for the Kenya National Music Festival.
Back in Machakos County, several pupils were also injured after the school bus they were in rolled along Mombasa Road in Sabaki, Mavoko in Machakos County back in March.
According to witnesses, the accident occurred after the bus which was ferrying pupils to school lost control and overturned along the slippery road.
