Details of Boniface Mwangi’s 2027 Presidential Bid

Activist Boniface Mwangi has officially declared his Presidential bid for the 2027 General Elections with free education, health, and water as key on his agenda.
Speaking at Ufungumano House on Wednesday, August 27, the prominent activist announced he would vie for the top seat in the upcoming polls, adding himself to an already bloated list of aspirants.
“Why are we gathered here today? We are gathered here to celebrate the Katiba and see how it can be implemented to the letter,” he stated.
“I have selected this great day to announce that I am going to be running for the President of the Republic of Kenya,” Mwangi announced.
Mwangi cited the high level of debt, suppression of human rights, high cost of living, failing governance systems, and violation of the Constitution as key motivations for vying for the top seat.
Aside from the free amenities, Mwangi alsopledged justice for victims of police brutality, recovery of all proceeds of graft, and the prosecution of leaders who are believed to have looted public resources and funds.
Anchored on the pillars of Love and Courage, Mwangi pledged a new Kenya that is accommodating of everyone, regardless of tribe or economic background.
Mwangi vowed to reject alliances with tribal leaders and figures linked to past regimes, drawing inspiration from recent youth-led protests and a citizen-funded model to combat governance failures and economic woes.
He framed his campaign under the sloganMwanzo Mpya(A New Beginning), emphasising the need for Kenyans to stand up and protect their nation. However, he did not reveal details of the political party he would use to contest, or disclose whether he would run as an independent candidate.
The prominent activist detailed that he would go for a grassroots approach, seeking to connect with ordinary Kenyans through door-to-door meetings and informal engagements to communicate his manifesto.
“The future of our country is in our hands. No one else,” he told the attendees.
This would beMwangi’s second foray into politics, after a failed bid to become Starehe Member of Parliament in the 2017 General Election. Mwangi finished third, in a contest that was won by former musician Charles Njagua aka Jaguar..
Mwangi’s decision to run for the Presidency adds him into a growing list of politicians who have declared their intention to run. Former Chief Justice David Maraga, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and Wiper Patriotic Front Kalonzo Musyoka have all revealed their intention to vie.
Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua, Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah have all disclosed their intention to succeed President William Ruto.
Ruto has exuded confidence that he would ascend to a second term, despite the massive criticism that his government has faced in the first term.
