DCI Roped in After Viral Clip of Woman Being Flogged by Four Men Sparks Outrage

A section of Kenyans are now calling on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to take action against four individuals captured on video flogging an unidentified woman.
This is after the video went viral on social media platforms, showing the woman being repeatedly whipped by four men. According to unconfirmed reports, the men are believed to be her brothers.
In the brief clip that has since attracted outrage online, thegroup of men can be seen dragging the woman on the groundbefore caning her mercilessly as she wails helplessly.
While the exact cause is yet to be established, speculations indicate that the incident occurred after the woman allegedly turned downa marriage proposal from a man believed to have been preferred by the brothers.
According to unconfirmed reports, she chose to settle down with a different man, leaving the brothers disappointed and resorting to assaulting her as a form of punishment.
The unconfirmed reports also allege that the man whose proposal was turned down by the victim had already submitted dowry in preparation for an engagement ceremony.
The incident has since drawn harsh criticism from members of the public, including the political class and other leaders, who have condemned the heinous act and called on the DCI to investigate the matter and take action against the men.
“This is unacceptable! The least we want to see is the arrest and arraignment of these fools. End Gender Based Violence!” commented Citizen TV reporter Stephen Letoo.
“The Kenya National Police Service, the DCI and other relevant authorities should expedite the tracking, arrest and prosecution of the individuals captured abusing this innocent soul,” said an online user.
Commenting on the matter, the Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya (FIDA-Kenya) condemned the act, adding that they were closely following the incident.
The women’s lobby group went ahead to urgeanyone with information regarding the incident to reach outto them for immediate action.
“We are following up on this incident and ask any person with any information on the same to share with us, kindly,” FIDA-Kenya commented.
