KUCCPS Extends September Intake Applications

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has extended the deadline for applications to the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme for the September 2025 intake to August 28, 2025.
In a statement shared on Friday, August 22, KUCCPS revealed that the applications would now remain open for one more week after it initially announced the deadline as August 22.
KUCCPS also revealed that it had reduced the application fee from Ksh1,500 to Ksh500. Applicants can also get assistance from various TVET institutions or Huduma Centres before the application deadline.
The Service invited candidates from the 2000 to 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE)cohorts to apply for their preferred courses.
“KUCCPS has reopened TVET placement applications for the September 2025 intake, from August 8 to August 22, 2025. The application fee has been slashed from Ksh 1,500 to Ksh 500 to boost access,” KUCCPS said in an earlier notice.
It urged students to apply for courses atKenya Medical Training College (KMTC)and other institutions at student.kuccps.net before the new deadline.
According to the service, the minimum grade requirements for admission are a C- for Diploma (Level 6), a D for Craft Certificate (Level 5), and an E for Artisan Certificate (Level 4).
How to Apply
To begin the application process, candidates should visit the KUCCPS portal. Upon accessing the portal, they will be prompted to enter their KCSE index number, the year they sat for the KCSE exams, and a password.
Students are advised to use their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) index number or birth certificate number as their password.
The KUCCPS application portal includes a wide range of institutions, including 41 public universities, 29 eligible private universities, and 32 university TVETs.
Students who apply to these institutions will be eligible for government scholarships and funding from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
In the 2024 KCSE exams, out of 962,512 candidates, only 246,391 scored a C+ and above, qualifying for direct university admission. This leaves 605,774 candidates who are expected to apply for TVET programs this year.
