KeNHA Announces Closure of Major Road for Two Months

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary road closure along the Bomas-Kiserian (B19) Road for a period of two months.
According to a public notice by Luka Kimeli, the acting KeNHA Director-General stated that the closure will take effect from Thursday, August 28, 2025, and remain in place until Monday, October 20, 2025.
“KeNHA wishes to inform the public of a temporary traffic disruption due to the closure of Bomas – Kiserian (B19) Road between Brookhouse/ Galleria to Catholic University of Eastern Africa junction from Thursday, August 28, 2025, to Monday, October 20, 2025,” the notice reads.
KeNHA explained that the disruption is necessary to facilitate the construction of two box culverts.
The affected section runs from the Brookhouse/Galleria area (Km 0+500) to the section just past the Catholic University of Eastern Africa junction (Km 1+000).
The Authority stated that this portion of the B19 road will be inaccessible to motorists during the specified period.
To ease traffic flow,KeNHA has provided two alternative routes:
In the notice, KeNHA advised motorists to follow the traffic diversion plan and adhere to project road signs.
Themotorists are urged to cooperate with police and traffic marshals on-siteto ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
This follows two months of city road closures and traffic disruption affecting motorists using Waiyaki Way, Limuru Road and Mai Mahiu Road.
On August 19, KeNHA revealed that the disruption along these three major routes was due to the temporary closure of the Rironi/Kamandura interchange. The authority announced that the interchange would be closed for two months, from Friday August 22 to Friday October 31, 2025.
The closure is necessary to allow for scheduled reconstruction work on the interchange, including slip roads, loops and approach roads.
