Mob Torches Land Rover Along Thika Road

A Land Rover truck was, on Saturday night, torched by boda boda riders, causing hours-long traffic along the busy Thika Superhighway.
According to reports, the incident was precipitated by the Land Rover being involved in an accident with a boda boda.
The burning, which took place near the National Youth Service (NYS), attracted a mammoth crowd and led to a traffic snarl-up on the highway.
Images and videos seen byKenyans.co.keshowed the vehicle on fire as the boda boda riders bayed for the blood of the driver.
Details of any casualties caused by the prior accident or the arson incident have yet to be unveiled at the time of the publication of this article.
This comes just a few days after another boda boda crew torched a City Shuttle bus along Jogoo Road on August 7.
The outrage by boda boda operators had also been aretaliatory one after the bus allegedly knocked down and killed one of their colleagues along the busy road.
Reportedly, the victim sustained fatal injuries upon impact, after which the passengers were forced to leave the bus and find alternative transport.
The bus driver and conductor waited for the authorities to take control of the situation, but were soon intercepted by the boda boda operators who gathered at the scene before they took matters into their own hands.
Images seen byKenyans.co.kerevealed that the bus was burnt beyond repair, reduced to just a shell.
Some of the witnesses at the scene had furtheraccused the fire department and the authorities of a delayed response, which exacerbated the situation.
