Kenya Slams Israel After Qatar Bombing

Kenya has expressed concern over the Israeli attack in Qatar’s capital, Doha, on Tuesday, September 9, that left several people dead and scores injured.
The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, in a statement on Thursday, described the attack, said to have been targeting Hamas leaders, as a “clear violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity”.
Kenya further warned that such acts of aggression posed a threat to regional stability and broader international peace and security.
“The Government of the Republic of Kenya notes with great concern the attack on a building in the State of Qatar that resulted in casualties, loss of life and property on Tuesday, 9th September 2025. On its own admission, the State of Israel carried out this bombing,” the statement read.
“This conduct violates international law, undermines the principles of peace and security that we must all uphold, and is incompatible with the United Nations 1970 Declaration on Principles of International Law concerning Friendly Relations and Cooperation among States,” the Ministry stated.
On Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office confirmed that the attack was carried out by the Israeli military, making it the first such attack by Israel on Qatar.
Kenya joined a list of other nationswhich sharply criticized the attack on Qatar- a nation which s been key mediator in ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas.
In the statement, Kenya, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, called on all involved parties to exercise maximum restraint while urging the international community to uphold theprinciples of state sovereignity peaceful coexistence.
While emphasizing the importance of diplomacy, the statement reiterated Kenya’s belief that sustainable peace can mainly be achieved through dialogue, respect for international norms and a ‘commitment to mutual understanding’.
In the wake of the attack, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned what it described as a “cowardly” attack.
Kenya was the latest among a string of nations which openly criticized Israel as the country followed the likes of other world superpowers including the United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, and the in showing solidarity to Qatar.
The European Union also issued a statement warning that any escalation of the war in Gaza should be avoided since “it is in no one’s interest”.
Qatar’s Interior Ministry has since confirmed that a member of its internal security forces was among six people to have been killed from the Tuesday attack.
