Driver Dies in Accident Involving Matatu and Two Trucks

A driver has died after three vehicles collided head-on at Chimoi along the Webuye–Eldoret highway on September 10.
According to videos and photos obtained byKenyans.co.ke,the accident involved a public service vehicle (PSV) matatu and two trucks.
The Long Distance Drivers and Conductors Association of Kenya (LoDDCA) confirmed that the deceased was travelling to Mombasa when the accident happened.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our member today, 10th Sept 2025, in a road accident near Chemoi on his way back to Mombasa. Kiiyo was an active member; his sudden loss has left us in shock. Our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and friends,” the LoDDCA Board stated.
Images obtained byKenyans.co.keshowed the three vehicles off the road, appearing to have veered off after the crash.
The PSVmatatu was completely crushed and damaged beyond recognitionon the outside, while the trucks sustained minor damage to their front parts.
Residents and motorists could be seen desperately trying to rescue the passengers from the damaged vehicle.
The exact number of passengers in the vehicles has not yet been established, and the number of those injured has also not been identified.
Reports indicated that one of the truck drivers did not sustain any injuries, though the condition and number of passengers remain unconfirmed.
