The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced the rollout of a comprehensive employee satisfaction and workplace environment survey.
According to PSC Chief Executive Officer Anthony Muchiri, the survey, which will run from September 8 to September 20, aims to determine the level of employee satisfaction and the suitability of the workplace environment.
In particular, the initiative aims to gather insights into thecurrent state of employee engagement, organisational culture, and overall well-being of workers across the public sector.
In a notice dated Tuesday, September 9, the PSC boss said the findings of the survey would be used to guide the Commission in establishing the overall baseline employee satisfaction index.
It will also help inform the Commission on policy reviews to improve efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery, the workplace environment, and good governance practices in the public service.
Muchiri revealed that the planned survey was in line with Section 62 of the Public Service Commission (PSC) Act of 2017, which mandates the Commission to ensure that the public service is efficient and effective.
The survey targets government officers in all service sectors within public employment and under the jurisdiction of the Commission.
These sectors include constitutional commissions and independent offices, ministries and state departments, as well as statutory commissions and authorities.
Others are state corporations and Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies (SAGAs), public universities, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
While making the announcement, the PSC CEO directed all authorised officers and heads of human resources under the purview of the Commission to widely share the notification with their staff.
PSC stated that thesurvey would be conducted through online means, with Kenyans seeking to undertake the survey urged to visit the Commission’s website.
According to PSC, the survey takes less than 30 minutes to complete. “Your input is invaluable, and all responses will be treated with strict confidentiality,” the Commission stated.
